Welcome to the International Office at Max Planck Institute for Marine Microbiology.

Moving to a foreign country can be interesting and adventurous. But even if you think you are well prepared, you will realize that your host country is much different than expected. It is often the small, day-to-day and seemingly trivial things that make the start in a new country difficult.

I will be happy to assist you in preparing your stay: help you with the formalities to be dealt with before your departure and shortly after your arrival.

The International office offers assistance with the following topics, among others:

• Assistance with your visa application
• Guidance for living and working in Germany (apply for a residence permit, registration at the local Bürgeramt, opening a bank account, health insurance etc.)
• Arrangements with the institute's guest apartments (if available)
• Help finding accommodation by providing information about e.g., estate agents, websites, and general information about the housing situation in Bremen
