Discover the UBRA Meeting Point

Oct 12, 2026

From now on, researchers and staff at the Max Planck Institute for Marine Microbiology can exchange ideas, discuss new perspectives, and connect in a unique way at the UBRA Meeting Point.

The red wooden bench, made in the University of Bremen’s carpentry workshop and now installed at our institute’s pond, stands as a symbol of the successful collaboration between the Max Planck Institute for Marine Microbiology and the U Bremen Research Alliance (UBRA).

“For more than 30 years, we have enjoyed fruitful cooperation with the University of Bremen and the surrounding research institutes. We act in concert – that is the Bremen spirit”, stated MPIMM’s managing director Rudolf Amann at the inauguration day of the UBRA Meeting Point. “With the founding of the UBRA almost ten years ago, this cooperation has been institutionalized, thereby receiving the recognition it well deserves.”

We invite all colleagues to sit down, pause for a moment, get in touch and let new ideas unfold at the UBRA Meeting Point!

What is the UBRA?

The U Bremen Research Alliance (UBRA) connects the University of Bremen with twelve non-university research institutions from Germany’s four major scientific organizations — the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft, Helmholtz-Gemeinschaft, Leibniz-Gemeinschaft, and Max-Planck-Gesellschaft — as well as the German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence (DFKI). UBRA aims to foster a collaborative and forward-thinking scientific community, the members are working together to establish a unified platform for innovation, infrastructure, and research.
